I was born in the slippery humid sweat of August in Baltimore, Maryland. My foundations of practice began and grew through soccer, skateboarding, carving, juggling, building forts, skipping rocks and music. These activities nurtured a deep passion and desire for physical play. I have always been comfortable and inspired being outside. It was in the forest and streams that my ideas really took shape. The woods are a refuge for my creativity and a provider of my materials. My soul is deeply fulfilled when my hands are able to commune with mud, sticks, and rocks.

 

Py the dog and I share a home we call the Leafspring. Nestled in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, this little home is simultaneously a studio, laboratory, and workshop. The Leafspring was designed and built from the leftover materials from job sites, free boxes and scrap piles, then carted home in a Toyota minivan. It was my first major life altering undertaking that set me on a course for a craft centered, hands on existence. I somehow skirted around the white picket fence of the American dream and decided to park in its backyard and follow my own vision.
